Spring and Fall Pontchartrain Basin Charters

It’s no secret that Lake Pontchartrain and surrounding waters of Lake Borgne, Lake Catherine, and the adjoining passes offer world class fishing for speckled trout and redfish along with a host of bonus species such as sheepshead, black drum, flounder, and even blue catfish and largemouth bass. We focus on this fishery during the seasonal spring and fall peaks, fishing out of our home dock in Slidell Louisiana, just 35 minutes from Downtown New Orleans with free shuttle service available. As a courtesy we provide free overnight accommodation in our guest bedroom equipped with double bunk beds.
Open Boat-Single Reservation walk-on/makeup charters.
We recognize that many anglers are unable to make up a full group to share the cost of a full charter. Our goal is to help get as many people on the water as possible. We reserve a number of dates each month for single reservations. This option is particularly well suited to business travelers and tourists who would not otherwise be able to book a full charter. Carnival Season Pre-Lent Meat Haul
$650 6 hours up to 4 anglers
These trips are traditionally run from January through Mardi Gras, but good fishing often continues until the end of April. These trips will depart from either Venice or Port Fourchon at captains discretion based on weather conditions and recent fishing intel. These are freezer filler trips focusing on fishing shallow oil and gas structures in the Gulf of Mexico primarily targeting spawning sheepshead, puppy size black drum, and pompano although we often encounter other bonus species such as bull redfish, mangrove snappers, and Spanish mackerel. These trips are highly weather dependent, but when a good window presents itself the fishing is unrivalled. This is an excellent way to introduce young anglers to the sport of fishing as the action is non stop and little to no skill is required to be successful. It’s common to max out our fish storage capacity in just a few hours. We ask our clients to use good judgment when deciding how many fish to keep as it is easy to get carried away. Please respect the resource and take only what you can reasonably consume. We reserve the right to charge an additional cleaning surcharge for excess harvest. Yes, the fishing is really that good!
Special Red Snapper and Reef Fish
$800 8-10 hours up to 6 anglers
These trips will depart from Venice or Grand Isle at Captain’s discretion. All fishing will be done in State Waters. While we are restricted in fishing area, we benefit from a longer season and larger bag limit than federally permitted vessels. Red, Mangrove, and Lane Snapper will be primary targets, but anglers can expect a large assortment of species. It’s not uncommon to see a dozen or more species each trip. If limits are achieved early there are always other species readily available to target. This can also be combined with a few hours of early morning speckled trout fishing along barrier island beaches.
